WHO WE ARE
We are a church, coffee house, concert venue, meeting room, and events center in oldtown Fort Collins CO.
Timberline Oldtown is the name of our church.
Everyday Joe’s Coffee House is the name of our coffee shop and concert venue.
It all happens in one building at 144 S. Mason Street.
A LITTLE HISTORY
Timberline Oldtown was planted by Timberline Church in 2000 and was called Joshua’s Crossing. We moved to our current location in 2002. We are still connected to Timberline Church legally and in our hearts and values. We’re in the same family, so to speak. We are accountable to the leadership of Timberline Church, a Fort Collins congregation founded in 1921. Timberline Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God fellowship. That said, we function fairly independently and have our own full time pastors and directors.
Everyday Joe’s Coffee House began to operate in our building in June of 2003. It is the community outreach of Timberline Oldtown: a non-profit, volunteer powered coffee house, meeting room, concert venue, and events center.
WHAT TO EXPECT
At Timberline Oldtown we gather to remind each other who we are…that we are all created in the image of God and have chosen to accept that, accept God’s love, take care of each other, and participate in God’s kingdom as followers of Jesus Christ.
- We study the Scriptures together and wrestle with their meanings and their implications for us.
- We worship God together through music, art, coffee, stories, and food.
- We want to take care of each other because that’s fundamental in the command to love one another.
- We want to serve in this community and make this town better because we’re here and Jesus served.
Everyday Joe’s is the outreach arm of our church. It is what this building looks like when it puts on its work clothes and steps out into the life and goings on of Oldtown Fort Collins.
- We value the hard work that goes into coffee – from the farmer to the roaster to the volunteer barista behind the counter. We believe stewardship is involved in crafting a quality cup of coffee. We believe quality honors the Father and the work He does in his Kingdom. And we believe in serving a quality cup of coffee to the people who come through the doors, because they deserve something top notch.
- We believe we are all created with the ability to create, created by a creator. Some folks create visual art. We provide the space on the walls at 144 S. Mason for artists to display their works, free of charge.
- We believe in hosting concerts and community events as a way to serve our community. We provide a space to hear things and be heard. Whether it is music, a lecture on Antarctica, or an author releasing a new book…it should also be top notch. Sometimes this means walking an artist down the road of critique and feedback if they aren’t ready to be heard. This also means providing the space to be heard if we stumble upon something special.
- We expect to take part in the Kingdom everyday in our interactions with the people who come through the doors, with the volunteers behind the bar and soundboard, with the good folk who provide the product we sell, with the artists on stage…with the community we serve. We “…keep praying that this faith we hold in common keeps showing up in the good things we do, and that people recognize Christ in all of it.” Philemon 1:6, MSG.
MISSION & VALUES
Mission: We want to see the kingdom of God expressed right here. Right now. In our lives. In this building. In this
town.
Values: What is the kingdom of God? Well, it seems like the story says that when Jesus came, the kingdom of God was
near. He said, “If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father.” The core values of the Father were lived out in Jesus. We
want to like stuff that Jesus liked and not like stuff that he didn’t like. We want to do things he did. We want to love like
he did. We follow Christ, so Christ’s way, mission, and values will hopefully drive ours.
We also ascribe wholeheartedly to the core values of our parenting organization, Timberline Church.
We’d love for you to be a part of any or all of that…to help us do these things better, to let your voice be heard.
OUR BELIEFS
God created us. He loves us. His desire has always been that we turn from our sin and enjoy deep and healthy relationship with Him.
Jesus Christ is God’s son. He is co-equal with the Father and the Spirit.
Jesus voluntarily entered humanity, lived a sinless life, died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay for our disobedience. Forgiveness and right relationship with God are found in Him alone.
The Holy Spirit draws all people to Christ and empowers us to achieve God’s plan for our life. He enters our lives when we dedicate our lives to Christ and gives spiritual gifts to all believers for growth and service.
The Church of Jesus Christ is made up of all people everywhere who know him as their Lord and as the forgiver of their sins. Jesus will return to earth one day to be physically present with His Church.
The Bible is the truth and the very expression of God, written down for us.
God communicates with us in many ways, but the scripture stands as the ultimate revelation of God.
